Sony Ericsson C902

sony ericsson c902The modern way of living has made us forget about old school mobile phones that used to be very popular for a long time. It used to be that a mobile phone was fantastic as soon as it had a camera of any kind, not to mention an FM radio or face detection. Today, there are smartphones and iPhones, which are all in one – a mobile phone, a camera, a personal computer, a personal planner and everything else you need all packed in one useful and easy to use device. However, mobile phone makers haven’t yet ceased to make good old, regular mobile phones that do not have a touchscreen, a QWERTY keyboard or any of the other new-age features. Well, the Sony Ericsson C902 is a mobile phone like this and, contrary to what many might think, it is the mobile phone of choice for many people all around the world.

The truth is that the Sony Ericsson C902 is an average mobile phone. It has a TFT display with 262,144 colors and the resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. This kind of display is pretty basic and it is not capable of providing you with high resolution playback or video quality. When it comes to build quality, the C902 seems very well made, which is unexpected considering that it is an average mobile phone. It feels very solid and it lies perfectly in your hand. It is also very slim, which makes it very elegant.

There are two truly great things about this phone. The first thing is its camera, and the C in the name of the phone stands for Cyber-Shot. All Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot phones have been known for having good cameras, and the C902 is no different. The 5 megapixel camera has a very good flash, autofocus and image stabilizer. All of these features are used to enhance the pictures you take and there is another special feature used for this, called the BestPic. This is a feature that lets you take nine photos within the time limit of only one second with just one click of a button. This way you can choose the best photo out of these nine. Another application related to the camera is the Storyteller, which will let you make presentations with your pictures and show the presentations anywhere you want.

The second fantastic feature of the Sony Ericsson C902 is its music playing capabilities. This is yet another feature that is pretty much standard in all Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot phones. There are the standard features such as the TrackID and PlayNow, which are both trademarks of Sony Ericsson and are both very useful. Internal memory of this phone is low at 160 MB, but it can be upgraded to 4 GB by adding a Memory Stick Micro instead of the Micro SD card.

In a nutshell, the Sony Ericsson C902 is a solid, old school phone, with a monster camera and a great sounding music player. The biggest problem of the phone is the battery, which would have been much more powerful if the phone were not so thin.
