The HTC Desire S is undoubtedly a phone following steps of its predecessor the HTC Desire, with numerous upgrades distinguishing the set and the most prominent one being the unibody aluminium design. The complete metal covering provides the solid feel to the phone and only the SIM and external memory card insertion area holds plastic casing which occupies a very small part of the phone.
Beneath the solid covering the phone holds a Snapdragon processor of 1GHz CPU speed aided by 768 MB of RAM but the internal memory storage is unsatisfactorily at only 1.1 GB. You may require a card even with the micro SD card support available. The absence of HDMI is also a disappointment as it is impossible to link your phone to a television and since phones have been providing a HDMI since long now it is a definite notable miss.
The phone boasts a 3.7 inch, 480 X 800 resolution LCD display touch screen using AMOLED technology. The pictures are bright but if you compare the display with high end Smartphones you may be disappointed. The Desire S has introduced touch sensitive buttons replacing physical keys and optical trackpad present in the previous version. The rear facing, 5 megapixel camera offers 720p HD video recording and the front VGA color fixed focus camera enables video conferencing which is a definite plus point.
The updated software Android 2.3 Gingerbread is introduced enabling the phone with improved memory management and numerous performance enhancements and to top it up introduction of latest HTC Sense 2.2 succeeds in everyway in improving the default Android software deeming them to be the best features added to the phone.
The 1450 mAh provides sensible battery life, but with heavy browsing and calling the battery struggles to the end of the day.
